Partner Summer Programs in North Carolina

We have partnered with groups throughout the state of North Carolina in order to bring engineering summer camp experiences to more children. We hope to offer programs at additional locations around the state in future years. At all locations, students will experience engineering through hands-on, creative investigations and design activities.

Engineering Camp Charlotte will be held at Queens University of Charlotte with week long day camps for students in rising K-11th grades. Detailed camp descriptions and showcases of past years can be found at engineeringcampcharlotte.com.

The Charlotte program will allow for automatic enrollment. Cost per camp varies per camp.

The Elizabeth City Engineering Summer Camps are held at Elizabeth City State University will be for rising 3rd through 5th graders. The camp will run from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Alamance Engineering Summer Camps

The Alamance Engineering Summer Camp is held at the Alamance Community College will be for rising 3rd  through 5th graders. The camp will run from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Full Steam Ahead and Aviation Camp

Aviation Camp High School: July 8-12, 2024 (9 a.m. – 3 p.m.)
Full Steam Ahead Middle School: July 8-12, 2024 (9 a.m. – 3 p.m.)

Craven Community College, in partnership with the Eastern Carolina Aviation Heritage Foundation, will be offering a week-long, non-residential summer day camp for students on the Craven Community College Havelock campus. Local STEM teachers will lead the camp in partnership with Fleet Readiness Center East engineering staff and NC State University Faculty. Engineering Pioneers (rising 1st – 3rd graders) June 24-28, 2024 & July 22-26, 2024

Students imagine, collaborate, explore, and create, all while learning STEM skills that will set them up for classroom success.

Your student’s creativity and imagination will be brought to life as they learn how to build and program a LEGO EV3 robot utilizing award-winning software.

Jacksonville

SAME/U.S. Marine Corps STEM, Engineering & Construction Camp

Air Force Academy Camp Dates: June 23-29, 2024

The SAME/U.S. Marine Corps STEM, Engineering & Construction Camp is a week-long, in-residence camp geared towards rising sophomore, junior, and senior high school students. Located at Camp Lejeune, we provide a truly unique and engaging experience for students looking to learn more about professional military and government careers, and how to work with clients to deliver sound installation and facilities-related products. UNC Pembroke

UNC-Pembroke and NC State University College of Engineering are partnering together to bring engineering summer camps for rising 3rd through 8th graders to Pembroke. Raleigh

SECURE IT Summer Academy

Target Student: Rising 6th, 7th and 8th graders

  • Session 1: July 15-19, 2024 (Beginner/Intermediate)
  • Session 2: July 22-26, 2024 (Intermediate/Advanced)

SECURE IT is a one-week-long, non-residential Cybersecurity summer academy held at the University of Maryland-College Park and North Carolina State University. The camp will be offered to rising 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. Students will learn the strategies and techniques to defeat cyber attacks, secure networks, and protect sensitive data. Delve into ethical hacking, encryption, and cybersecurity careers. middle schoolers to learn to think like a cyber detective and employ design thinking to protect the things that they interact with daily (smart technologies, wearables, internet sites).

Young Investigators’ Summer Program in Nuclear Engineering

  • The Department of Nuclear Engineering at NC State holds its own residential camp for high school students and is now accepting applications for its Young Investigators’ Summer Program in Nuclear Engineering. The camp is open to high school rising juniors, rising seniors and graduating seniors. Participants explore through group projects, labs, lectures and industry field trips how nuclear science and technology solve everyday energy, medical and other industrial challenges. Spindale

Engineering Discovery Camp

Middle/High School Camp: June 24-28, 2024

Wilson

Wilson Engineering Summer Camps

Elementary School Camp: Rising 3rd-5th graders
Middle School Camp: Rising 6th-9th graders
June 17-21, 2024 (9 a.m. – 3 p.m.)

NC State College of Engineering, Wilson Community College and the Upper Coastal Plain Learning Council will offer a week-long summer day camp for elementary and middle school students.  Campers not only learn how engineers impact society, but they also experience engineering themselves through hands-on, creative investigations and designs. The curriculum is new every year, so students may return for new challenges. FABLAB will be returning!

The Wilson Camp will be held at the Lee Technology Center on the campus of Wilson Community College in Wilson, NC.  Cost of the camp is $150 IF the student resides in Edgecombe, Halifax, Nash, Northampton or Wilson counties.  If the student lives outside of these counties, the cost will be $300. The registration deadline is May 15, 2024 or sooner if camp fills.  Payment is due upon acceptance to secure the student’s place.
