Welcome from the Dean
Welcome to the College of Engineering at NC State University. Whether you’re a prospective student, a parent, an industry partner, an alumnus or simply curious about who we are — I am glad you are here.
Engineering has been central to NC State since its founding in 1887. Today, we’re proud to be one of the nation’s top public colleges of engineering, home to more than 12,500 students, over 400 faculty and a wide array of programs, research centers and industry partnerships. Our faculty members are nationally and internationally recognized in their fields. We offer undergraduate and graduate degrees in person and online across a broad spectrum of engineering disciplines, all designed to prepare our students to lead, innovate and make a difference.
Our focus is on meeting our present-day and future global challenges through education, discovery, innovation and outreach. Our cutting-edge research and education programs provide the knowledge and workforce to fuel the future of our state, nation and world. The College of Engineering is a research powerhouse–with almost $290M in research expenditures in the last year.
Our college is a place of action. Located on NC State’s innovative Centennial Campus, we work side by side with industry, government and academic partners. Our students don’t just learn theory — they apply it. They collaborate, build, invent and launch ideas into the world. NC State’s Think and Do mindset sets the College of Engineering apart.
We celebrate our faculty’s achievements, our students’ creativity and tenacity, and our alumni’s success. The State of North Carolina can be proud of the College of Engineering’s role in driving economic growth, supporting communities and preparing the next generation of engineers to meet the demands of a rapidly changing world.
