Academic Departments and Programs

Engineering degrees are offered through nine academic departments in the College of Engineering and three departments in other colleges.

The Golden LEAF Biomanufacturing Training and Education Center, Integrated Manufacturing Systems Engineering Institute, Operations Research, Engineering Online and two site-based programs also offer engineering degrees.

Biomedical Engineering

We prepare our graduates for a fast-growing, interdisciplinary field that integrates engineering, mathematics, medicine, and science to improve human health and quality of life.

Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering

We train leaders in fields such as biotechnology, polymers, nanotechnology, energy and environmentally responsive processes, and biomanufacturing.

Our students learn to develop engineering solutions to better the human condition by improving infrastructure, human health, and the environment.

Our curriculum teaches students the skills needed to understand, specify, design, implement, test, and deploy computer and software systems.

Electrical and Computer Engineering

We not only teach students the fundamentals of engineering, we give students the ability to expand and develop their own creative capabilities. Our program also strives to develop each student’s skills in all aspects of the field.

Industrial and Systems Engineering

Students will develop a breadth of knowledge in all of our focus areas resulting in a broad base of knowledge and skills. There is a pervasive thread throughout the curriculum on the measurement, design, and continuous improvement of production and service systems.

NC State Engineering in Eastern North Carolina

The Havelock Engineering program allows you to earn the title “NC State Engineer” on the CCC Havelock campus. You can earn a Bachelor of Science in Engineering with a concentration in either Electrical Engineering Systems (EES) or Mechanical Engineering Systems (MES).

Joint NC State/UNC Asheville Engineering Programs

Students pursuing the Joint Bachelor of Science in Engineering (JEM) Degree with a mechatronics concentration remain on the UNC Asheville campus for the entirety of the degree program and follow a curriculum which focuses on the exciting area of Mechatronics Engineering.

NC State Engineering Transfer Program

When you join the Engineering Transfer Program at Craven Community College (CCC), you sign up for an opportunity to complete the first two years of pre-engineering courses at CCC.

NC State 2+2 Engineering Program (UNC Wilmington)

The Engineering Transfer Program allows you to take pre-engineering courses and then apply to transfer into one of NC State’s engineering B.S. degree programs.

NC State 2+2 Engineering Program (UNC Asheville)

Students participating in the 2+2 program begin at UNC Asheville and transfer to NC State University after one to two years to complete a B.S. in Engineering degree.
