Proudly founded by NC State alumni Rhett McLaughlin and Link Neal, this scholarship supports students who embody creativity and innovation in engineering and beyond. As former Wolfpack engineers turned creative pioneers, Rhett & Link are giving back to inspire the next generation of NC State innovators.

About the Scholarship
The Rhett & Link Engineering Innovation Scholarship is designed to support students who are committed to pushing boundaries in engineering, sciences, arts, entertainment, or at the intersection of these fields.
Award Amount
Up to $25,000 per year, covering the cost of attendance.
Eligibility
- NC State College of Engineering sophomores or juniors with two years of coursework remaining.
- Students in engineering majors across related colleges, including:
- College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (Biological Engineering)
- College of Natural Resources (Paper Science and Engineering)
- Wilson College of Textiles (Textile Engineering)
- Preference will be given to students who:
- Show potential for integrating creativity into their future careers.
- Demonstrate a passion for innovation and creativity through their coursework, student organizations, or personal projects.

Application Requirements
- Essay (500 words):
- Describe your interest in and commitment to innovation and creativity in engineering, sciences, arts, entertainment, or the intersection of these disciplines. Share how this scholarship would support your academic and career goals.
- Video Essay (2 minutes):
- Submit a YouTube link to a 2-minute video showcasing your passion for innovation and creativity. Explain how you integrate these values into your academic and professional plans.

Meet Rhett & Link
Rhett McLaughlin and Link Neal are the comedic duo behind the popular YouTube channel Good Mythical Morning. Before becoming internet sensations, Rhett & Link were students at NC State’s College of Engineering. Over the years, they have maintained strong ties to the university, returning to campus numerous times to host Q&As, deliver commencement addresses, tour departments, labs, and buildings, and engage with the Wolfpack community. Their journey from engineers to entertainers exemplifies the power of creativity and innovation.
Through this scholarship, they are giving back to NC State by fostering opportunities for students to dream big, push boundaries, and create their own unique paths.

Who is eligible to apply?
Eligible applicants are sophomores and juniors enrolled in NC State’s College of Engineering or specific engineering-related majors in other colleges.
What is the selection process?
Scholarship recipients will be selected based on their demonstrated commitment to creativity and innovation, as well as the impact the scholarship would have on their academic and career goals.
When will recipients be announced?
Recipients will be notified on a rolling basis starting in March of 2025.
