Basnight remembered as a champion for the College of Engineering

State Sen. Marc Basnight, a Dare County Democrat who served as president pro tempore of the NC Senate longer than anyone in history, died on Dec. 28, 2020, at the age of 73.

Pericardial injection effective, less invasive way to get regenerative therapies to heart

Injecting hydrogels containing stem cell or exosome therapeutics directly into the pericardial cavity could be a less invasive, less costly and more effective means of treating cardiac injury, according to new research from NC State and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Grad students make the college go

“NC State Engineering graduate students have a ‘can-do’ attitude that aligns perfectly with NC State’s Think and Do motto. They work on real problems, many supported by industry or research centers, consortia or laboratories,” said Richard Gould, interim associate dean of graduate programs. “Many can attend graduate school at any of the top schools in the country, but they chose NC State because of our excellence.”

Biomedical engineers at UNC-Chapel Hill and NC State respond to COVID-19 by teaming to speed the development of an emergency ventilator.

College recognizes 2018 Awards for Excellence recipients

Three outstanding staff members were recognized by the College of Engineering at North Carolina State University at the annual Awards for Excellence ceremony held May 1 at the James B. Hunt Jr. Library on NC State’s Centennial Campus. Dr. Louis Martin-Vega, dean of the College of Engineering, presented the awards.

Sloan fellowship awarded to biomedical engineer Anne Marion Taylor

Anne Marion Taylor is among 126 scientists and scholars in the United States and Canada to receive 2013 Sloan Research Fellowships from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation. Taylor is an assistant professor in the joint biomedical engineering department at North Carolina State University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
