Coordinator with The Engineering Place receives Presidential Award in Washington, D.C.

Elizabeth Parry of The Engineering Place, a K-20 engineering education and outreach program at North Carolina State University, received the Presidential Award for Excellence in Science, Mathematics, and Engineering Mentoring (PAESMEM) in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday, June 16.

Starling discusses new summer camp for visually impaired and blind teenagers on ACB Radio Mainstream

Leyf Starling, program coordinator for The Engineering Place in the College of Engineering at NC State, was interviewed this week by Brian McCallen, producer and host of Speaking Out for the Blind, an American Council of the Blind (ACB) Radio Mainstream show. In the interview, Starling discusses The Engineering Place’s new summer camp program for visually impaired and blind teenagers (VIB).

D’Amico and Carpenter receive ASEE K-12/University Partnership Award

Susan D’Amico, coordinator of engineering K-12 outreach extension for The Engineering Place (EP) at North Carolina State University, and Cynthia Carpenter, Rocky Mount Middle School science teacher, have received the Middle School K-12/University Partnership Best Practices award from the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE).

Bottomley named ASEE Fellow

Dr. Laura Bottomley, director of the Women in Engineering program and The Engineering Place in the College of Engineering at North Carolina State University, has been named to the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) Academy of Fellows. She will be honored at the ASEE Annual Conference and Exposition Awards Ceremony June 16 in Indianapolis, Ind.
