Caldwell Fellows Philanthropy Spotlight: David and Martha Howard

David and Martha Howard exhibit the heart of the Caldwell Fellows program philanthropic efforts by maintaining a multigenerational lineage of donors to our program and the university.
David’s father, Paul N. Howard Jr. graduated from NC State in 1944 with a degree in civil engineering. David’s grandfather, Paul N. Howard Sr., also graduated from NC State with a degree in civil engineering in 1916.

Nuclear Engineering students awarded fourteen American Nuclear Society scholarships

Congratulations to our fourteen NC State Nuclear Engineering students, recipients of the 2022-23 American Nuclear Society (ANS) scholarships. Since 1979, over $5 million in scholarships have been distributed by the Society to students in pursuit of nuclear science and engineering.

Nuclear Engineering students awarded DOE scholarships

As we enter the fall 2022 semester, congratulations are in order to five NC State Nuclear Engineering undergraduate students. They are the recipients of the U.S. Department of Energy University Nuclear Leadership Program (UNLP) scholarships, valued at $10,000 each, in support of nuclear science and engineering educational pursuits.

Crickard earns Goldwater Scholarship

Mechanical engineering student Ashley Crickard, along with fellow NC State student Caleb Keaveney, has received the Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship. The award is one of the oldest, most prestigious scholarships in the fields of natural sciences, engineering and mathematics.

NC State alumni couple establishes Troan Scholarship for Computer Science endowment

The Department of Computer Science is proud to announce that NC State alumni Erik and Brigid Troan have made a commitment of $250,000 to establish the Troan Scholarship for Computer Science Endowment. When fully funded, this will be one of the largest scholarship endowments ever created specifically for computer science (CSC) students.

CBE undergraduate honored with minority scholarship award

Tyler Void, a chemical engineering major with the class of 2023, was awarded on November 30 as a college scholarship recipient of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) Minority Affairs Committee. The Minority Affairs Committee of the AIChE encourages, promotes, and enhances educational opportunities for under-represented populations in engineering.
