Since their inception, the Minority Engineering Programs (MEP) have focused on developing and delivering support services that assist in recruiting, retaining and graduating Black, Native American and Latinx/e and Hispanic American students in the NC State University College of Engineering.

Senior Tabitha Gardner talks time management, clubs and community

As an incoming student at NC State, Tabitha Gardner planned to, “come here, get a degree, and leave.” Four years later, she graduates this May as an industrial and systems engineering major, an Africana studies and statistics minor, a board member of two different on-campus clubs, a former design mentor and an undergraduate researcher and more.

A website that offers “news coverage and in-depth analysis of global technology trends” has ranked NC State sixth nationally on a list of top colleges for women and minorities in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).

College appoints assistant dean for student, faculty and staff equity and inclusion

Angelitha Daniel will start as the NC State College of Engineering's inaugural assistant dean for student, faculty and staff equity and inclusion on Aug. 1. Daniel is currently the director of the College of Engineering’s Minority Engineering Program (MEP) and since July 2020 has also served as a special advisor to the dean for diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives.

Q&A: Questions for Angelitha Daniel

Angelitha Daniel came to NC State in 2003, and has been director of the Minority Engineering Programs since 2013. In 2020, she started a new role as special advisor to the dean for diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) initiatives, leading the College in cultivating a more inclusive and welcoming culture and environment.
