ECE student Jishnudeep Kar among winners in 2022 Graduate Student Research Symposium

Nearly 200 NC State graduate students presented their research projects this week at the 15th annual Graduate Student Research Symposium, and 27 were recognized as the best presenters in their disciplines.

2022 EWC Graduate Research Symposium showcases melting pot of sustainable, innovative research

The annual, student-organized symposium highlights the current research conducted by CCEE’s EWC group, providing an opportunity for graduate students to gain experience in preparing and delivering 18 posters and 20 oral presentations of their research.

Former department head initiates program to establish named endowed graduate awards

Current Head Dr. Morton Barlaz has been working with Downey over the past 18 months to create a program that will initiate and incentivize the establishment of endowed graduate awards. These awards will enable CCEE to offer multiyear supplemental awards to graduate students.

BAE graduate choreographs dance of thesis on streambank erosion

Layla El-Khoury enjoys solving problems. She also enjoys dancing. An engineering student in the M.S in biological and agricultural engineering program, and undergraduate alumna of the BAE department, she found a way to merge her interests into a choreographed dance piece of her graduate thesis on streambank erosion.

Grad students make the college go

“NC State Engineering graduate students have a ‘can-do’ attitude that aligns perfectly with NC State’s Think and Do motto. They work on real problems, many supported by industry or research centers, consortia or laboratories,” said Richard Gould, interim associate dean of graduate programs. “Many can attend graduate school at any of the top schools in the country, but they chose NC State because of our excellence.”

Naila Segule awarded prestigious Payne fellowship award

Naila Segule, who is studying biomedical engineering and interdisciplinary studies in global health communication and development, recently returned from a full-day interview in Washington, D.C., at the USAID Office for the final leg of her application to the Payne International Development Fellowship.

GradPack Talks are podcasts that feature information on resources for NC State graduate students. In this one, David Woodbury of NCSU Libraries talks about what the libraries offer to grad students. 

First place for video among graduate students and postdocs goes to Tyler Allen, a Ph.D. student in NC State’s Comparative Biomedical Sciences program, for the glowing video he titled “Heart of Gold,” showing how researchers study zebrafish hearts for their potential to help humans with heart diseases.
