Park selected to receive DOE Office of Science Graduate Student Research Award

Fourth year Ph.D. student, Zachary Park, has been selected to receive the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Science Graduate Student Research (SCGSR) award for his proposed research project, “Investigating the Interfacial Chemistry of Liquid Metals in Batteries,” to be conducted at Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Tennessee.

NC State University joins national energy innovation hub, boosting battery research

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) announced a $62.5 million grant supporting a new energy research hub involving 15 research institutions, including North Carolina State University, to advance sustainable and economical electrochemical energy storage for electric grids.

Lietz wins DOE Early Career Award

Amanda Lietz, assistant professor in the Department of Nuclear Engineering, received a Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Science Early Career Research Program award for her project “Incorporating Kinetic Effects in Fluid Models of Low Temperature Plasmas via Machine Learning.”

NC Clean Energy Technology Center gets $2 million grant for community projects

As part of the current presidential administration’s Investing in America initiative, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) is giving $22 million to various institutions to improve efficiency in large-scale renewable energy and energy storage. This includes $2 million to a team led by NC State’s North Carolina Clean Energy Technology Center (NCCETC).

Energy-X awarded $1.4 million DOE grant for next-gen heat pumps

Under this grant, the Energy-X lab will closely work with its industry partner and ORNL to develop a novel variable-capacity evaporator technology for improving heat pump performance, saving energy and reducing payback time.

DOE grant brings renewed energy to NC State COE in more ways than one

An NC State team was awarded a $2.1 million Department Of Energy grant, which comes at an exciting time for fusion research. Several experimental facilities around the world have set new operations records recently, and the fusion effort has also benefited from an infusion of early-stage venture funding from the private sector.
