NC State student chapter designated as “Outstanding University” by American Concrete Institute

The NC State American Concrete Institute (ACI) student chapter was given “Outstanding University” status by ACI, which identifies universities based on their participation in select ACI-related activities and programs through a points system. This year, 86 universities received recognition as part of the ACI Excellent or Outstanding Universities Award Program.

The old Bonner Bridge provides a new kind of service for CCEE researchers

When the Bonner Bridge opened over North Carolina’s Oregon Inlet in 1963, it was projected to have a lifespan of 30 years. Now, Bonner Bridge is being deconstructed,but the old structure will provide ongoing service by helping researchers determine how to extend the service lives of concrete bridges.

CCEE Research Assistant Professor Dr. James Levis was featured on news broadcast station WRAL for his work on SwolfPly — Solid Waste Optimization Life-Cycle Framework in Python — a free online tool developed at NC State with “models designed to better manage solid waste systems and environmental goals in the most cost effective way possible.”

Katherine Anarde’s work on “Sunny Day Flooding” research featured on PBS

CCEE assistant professor Dr. Katherine Anarde and other researchers from NC State and UNC Chapel Hill were featured on PBS for their work on the Sunny Day Flooding Project, which focuses on working with coastal communities in North Carolina to measure, model and better understand the causes and impacts of chronic flooding.
