Aerospace engineering alumnus gives in honor of family

The Caldwell Fellows program is pleased to celebrate the recent gift from John F. and Penny Higdon, of Matthews, North Carolina. John is an ‘86 Aerospace Engineering alumnus and Caldwell Fellow. He currently serves as the Director of Product Engineering at the Merit Bass Company and serves as the Mayor of Matthews, North Carolina.

Caldwell Fellows Philanthropy Spotlight: David and Martha Howard

David and Martha Howard exhibit the heart of the Caldwell Fellows program philanthropic efforts by maintaining a multigenerational lineage of donors to our program and the university.
David’s father, Paul N. Howard Jr. graduated from NC State in 1944 with a degree in civil engineering. David’s grandfather, Paul N. Howard Sr., also graduated from NC State with a degree in civil engineering in 1916.

Engineering alumni establish new endowment for Caldwell Fellows program

The Caldwell Fellows Program is excited to celebrate the establishment of a new endowment by two of our alumni with a unique story. Allison Anderson (BS Biomedical Engineering ’05; MS Industrial Engineering ‘07) and David Anderson (BS Mechanical Engineering ’05) met during their time in the Caldwell Fellows Program. It had such a significant impact on their lives, that they decided to establish a new named fund that will honor this impact and benefit students in the program.

CBE undergraduate honored with minority scholarship award

Tyler Void, a chemical engineering major with the class of 2023, was awarded on November 30 as a college scholarship recipient of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) Minority Affairs Committee. The Minority Affairs Committee of the AIChE encourages, promotes, and enhances educational opportunities for under-represented populations in engineering.

A lifetime of commitment

William O'Brien '81 created his legacy and boosted NC State's through his work as an alumnus, volunteer and donor. He has created a new endowment through planned and current use gifts that will continue serving Caldwell Fellows far into the future.

New world leaders: International students form a key component of the Caldwell Fellows Program

Lingchao Mao was born in China and then emigrated with her family to Barcelona, Spain, when she was 10 years old. But when it came time for college, Mao was drawn to the United States. Or, more specifically, to NC State. “NC State is one of the best schools for engineering and statistics, which I knew I wanted to study,” Mao says.
