NC State Engineer to Receive Army Award for Research Countering Roadside Bombs

A North Carolina State University engineer will receive the U.S. Army Commander's Award for Public Service for research that has helped American forces remotely counter roadside bombs, efforts that have saved hundreds of soldiers' lives in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Felder to be honored by University of Illinois

Dr. Richard M. Felder, the Hoechst Celanese Professor Emeritus in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at North Carolina State University, will receive an honorary doctorate of engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign for his contributions to engineering and science education.

Dr. Sami Rizkalla, distinguished professor of civil engineering and construction and director of the Constructed Facilities Laboratory at North Carolina State University, will receive the Concrete Research Council Arthur J. Boase Award from the American Concrete Institution (ACI) Foundation.
