Alumnus Junji Kawabe, a Franklin Bost Industrial Design Fellowship recipient during his time in the College of Design, recently received an iF Design Award Gold. Kawabe's two NC State degrees — a bachelor's in aerospace engineering and a master's in industrial design — are proving to be a complementary strength in his career.

As program director and academic advisor for the NC State Engineering 2+2 Transfer Program, Amy Craig Reamer works onsite at UNCW but is employed by NC State, where she received her undergraduate, graduate and doctoral degrees.

A Research Triangle Park startup founded by Dr. Zhen Gu, associate professor in the UNC/NC State Joint Department of Biomedical Engineering, has received a $5.8 million cash infusion to continue translation efforts of ‘smart’ insulin devices.

Reyhanoglu will lead Joint UNC Asheville-NC State Engineering Programs in Asheville

Dr. Mahmut Reyhanoglu has been named the new director of the joint UNC Asheville-NC State Engineering Programs. These include the 2+2 program with two years on each campus, and the mechatronics engineering program where students study for all four years on UNC Asheville’s campus.

Westmoreland wins AIChE Institute Award for Excellence in Industrial Gases Technology

Dr. Phillip R. Westmoreland, professor in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at North Carolina State University, has been named the 2017 recipient of the AIChE Institute Award for Excellence in Industrial Gases Technology.
