Misra, Escuti receive Alcoa Foundation Research Awards

The Alcoa Foundation Engineering Research Awards for 2011 were presented to Dr. Veena Misra, professor of electrical and computer engineering, and Dr. Michael J. Escuti, associate professor of electrical and computer engineering, at the spring faculty meeting for the College of Engineering at North Carolina State University.

Thomas Nudell, a graduate student in electrical engineering at NC State, has been awarded a US Department of State Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) to study Mandarin this summer in China.

Dr. Richard J. Spontak, alumni distinguished professor of chemical and biomolecular engineering and materials science and engineering at North Carolina State University, has been awarded the Colwyn Medal from the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining for his seminal research involving thermoplastic elastomer systems.

Dr. Christine Grant, associate dean for faculty development and special initiatives and professor in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at North Carolina State University, has received the 2011 Winifred Burks-Houck Women’s Professional Leadership Award from the National Organization for Professional Advancement of Black Chemists and Chemical Engineers (NOBCChE).
