Engineering alumnus Jimmy D. Clark named to NC State Board of Trustees

Jimmy D. Clark has been appointed by Gov. Bev Perdue to the North Carolina State University Board of Trustees. He replaces Gayle Lanier, whose term has expired.

College recognizes 2011 distinguished alumni

The College of Engineering at North Carolina State University has named the Distinguished Engineering Alumnus award winners for 2011. The recipients are Marshall D. Brain, founder of HowStuffWorks.com; William H. Dean, president and CEO of M.C. Dean, Inc.; and Robert R. Womack, former chairman and CEO of Zurn Industries, LLC.

Collaboration aimed at automating manufacturing of regenerative medicine therapies

When it comes to manufacturing tissues and organs to cure disease and save lives, regenerative medicine is just like any other industry where automation, quality and efficiency are keys to success. That’s why Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center’s Institute for Regenerative Medicine is teaming up with North Carolina State University’s Edward P. Fitts Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering with the goal of applying the latest advances in industrial engineering to the new field of regenerative medicine.

Hermine Kabbendjian, director of program administration in the Department of Nuclear Engineering, has received a 2011 Governor’s Award for Excellence. The award is the highest honor a state employee can receive.

President Barack Obama has awarded the National Medal of Technology and Innovation to North Carolina State University professor Dr. B. Jayant Baliga. The medal is the nation’s highest honor for technological achievement.
