MAE rocketry team wins first place awards at NASA student launch

In late April, the team traveled to Huntsville, Alabama to compete against 43 other teams in the USLI College and University Division of NASA’s annual Student Launch competition. Also competing were 16 teams that participated in the SLI Middle, High School and Informal Education Institution Division of the competition.

Adams receives the 2022 William F. Lane Outstanding Teaching Award

William F. Lane Outstanding Teaching Award. The William F. Lane Outstanding Teacher Award recognizes excellence in teaching or educational leadership in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE). The award is presented annually by ECE along with a certificate and a $500 cash award. Winners of the Lane Award are automatically considered by ECE for the NC State Outstanding Teacher Award.

Pavlidis receives the 2021-22 R. Ray Bennett Faculty Fellow Award

The mother of Mr. R. Ray Bennett, Mrs. Alice B. Bennett, endowed a faculty fellowship for the NC State Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering as a memorial to her son. The R. Ray Bennett Faculty Fellow Award provides support for high-achieving young faculty in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at NC State in pursuing their academic and cutting-edge research initiatives. This recognition is presented annually by the ECE Department to a single individual with a $40,000 cash award.

Crickard earns Goldwater Scholarship

Mechanical engineering student Ashley Crickard, along with fellow NC State student Caleb Keaveney, has received the Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship. The award is one of the oldest, most prestigious scholarships in the fields of natural sciences, engineering and mathematics.
