From the Dean
Dear Wolfpack Engineering Community,
Against the backdrop of a rapidly changing world, the College of Engineering is expanding enrollment to provide the opportunity for more students to pursue computer science and engineering degrees while supporting faculty research that leads to meaningful advancements in science, technology and society.
Advancements like artificial intelligence (AI) are progressing rapidly and the College of Engineering is seizing the moment. You can read in this issue about the Applied AI in Engineering and Computer Science initiative and how Wolfpack engineers are putting AI to use to solve challenges across industries.
It’s an exciting time at the College of Engineering as we welcomed our largest ever first-year class in August and are educating more than 12,500 students across 52 engineering and computer science programs this academic year. Our over 400 full-time faculty continue to guide our students toward success while balancing their own groundbreaking research. In FY25, we recorded almost $260 million in research expenditures, which places us among the top schools in the United States.
As we get into this academic year, I am even more assured that a strong foundation in engineering and computer science from the College of Engineering at NC State is a differentiator. Our students leave here ready to serve the State of North Carolina and beyond.
I hope you enjoy reading more about NC’s flagship engineering program. Thank you for your continued support.
