COE Ranked Top-15 Public Program by U.S. News for 10th Year Running

The College of Engineering at North Carolina State University is one of the top 15 public engineering programs in the country for the 10th straight year, according to the latest rankings of graduate programs by U.S. News & World Report.
The college ranked 13th among public institutions and 27th overall on U.S. News’ annual Best Graduate Engineering Schools list.
The U.S. News graduate programs rankings are released annually in the spring with updated rankings of both colleges and departments. These rankings are based on research activity, faculty resources, academic achievements of entering students and assessments by other engineering schools and employers.
In rankings of engineering specialties at the graduate level, nuclear engineering held its spot at third in the U.S., while biological and agricultural engineering ranked fourth. Industrial and systems engineering improved one spot to 14th. NC State programs ranked in the top 25 nationally in chemical engineering, civil engineering, environmental engineering and materials engineering.
In January, U.S. News released its online graduate engineering programs. NC State Engineering Online ranked 22nd nationally. It ranked 6th for Best Online Master’s in Electrical Engineering Programs and 22nd in Best Online Master’s in Engineering Programs for Veterans.
In the 2025 U.S. News undergraduate rankings released last September, seven specialties were ranked in the top 25 nationally: biological and agricultural engineering, chemical engineering, software engineering, electrical engineering, environmental engineering, industrial engineering and materials engineering. NC State University was ranked 58th overall among national universities and 26th overall among public institutions — the university’s highest ranking ever.
