College recognized as a top graduate engineering program by US News
The College of Engineering at North Carolina State University and its academic departments have been rated among the top graduate engineering education programs in the country by US News & World Report.
The 2022 rankings, released on March 29, show NC State’s College of Engineering ranked as the 26th-best graduate engineering program in the United States, and 13th among public institutions. In US News rankings of engineering specialties at the graduate level, academic departments at NC State within the College of Engineering and in other colleges placed in the top 20 nationally in agricultural, industrial, chemical and nuclear engineering.
The US News rankings of graduate programs are released annually in March with updated rankings of both colleges and departments. The rankings are one benchmark of success in academia. The College’s place on the list represents a steady climb of several spots over the last 15 years and is the result of sustained growth in rankings, enrollment and research expenditures for NC State Engineering.
The College is regularly ranked in the top 15 nationally in research expenditures among all colleges of engineering, according to figures from the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE), and is in the top 20 nationally in the number of annual bachelor’s, master’s and Ph.D. graduates in engineering, ASEE said.
In 2022 US News graduate rankings of engineering specialties, NC State was ranked third in both nuclear and agricultural engineering, 16th in industrial engineering and 20th in chemical engineering.
The College also did well in US News rankings of online graduate engineering programs, which were released for 2022 in January.
NC State’s Engineering Online ranked seventh nationally on the list of Best Online Engineering Programs. It’s the fifth straight year in which NC State has landed in the rankings’ top 10.
The Engineering Online master’s program was also rated in the top 10 for Best Online Graduate Engineering Programs for Veterans, coming in at 10th nationally. In rankings of online engineering specialties, NC State’s College of Engineering was ranked fourth for both its civil engineering and mechanical engineering programs, seventh for industrial engineering and eighth for electrical engineering.
