Srinath Ekkad awarded the 2022 AIAA Air Breathing Propulsion Award
By MAE Communications
MAE Professor and Department Head, Dr. Srinath Ekkad, has been chosen as the distinguished recipient of the 2022 AIAA Air Breathing Propulsion Award. The award is sponsored by the AIAA Gas Turbine Engines, High Speed Air Breathing Propulsion, Inlets, Nozzles & Propulsion Systems Integration, and Pressure Gain Combustion Technical Committees.
Established in 1975, the Air Breathing Propulsion Award is presented to an individual for sustained, meritorious accomplishment in the arts, sciences, and technology of air breathing propulsion systems.
“For significant technical contributions to development of pioneering detailed heat transfer measurements inside gas turbines and continued leadership in the aerospace community to develop new industry-university partnerships.”
Dr. Ekkad arrived in NC State September 2017 as Department Head. He was previously Rolls-Royce Professor for Aerospace Systems at Virginia where he was also the Associate VP for Research Programs and Director for the Rolls-Royce University Technology Center for Advanced System Diagnostics. His background is in the fundamental thermal-fluid science with an emphasis on experimental methods. His area of application expertise is in gas turbine and thermal management of systems. He has worked extensively on cooling and heat transfer technology relating to turbine engines, automotive systems, energy harvesting, power plant systems.
Dr. Ekkad will be formally recognized at the AIAA SciTech Forum in January 2022.
