NC State Professor Wins 2013 Lehigh Valley Health Network Marathon
Dr. Cassie Hintz finished first among female runners at the 2013 Lehigh Valley Health Network Marathon for VIA, held in Bethlehem, Pa., on Sept. 8. Hintz, an assistant professor in the Department of Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering at North Carolina State University, completed the 26.2-mile race with a time of 2:52:40.
Fitting for a marathon runner, Hintz’s research focuses on characterization and modeling of asphalt materials. Specifically, her work utilizes multi-scale characterization to develop a fundamental understanding of asphalt binders and their interaction with mineral aggregates.
Hintz is teaching Materials of Construction (CE 332) this semester. She earned her PhD in civil and environmental engineering from the University of Wisconsin in 2012 and joined the NC State faculty that same year.
