Former National Science Foundation head to speak at NC State April 13
What: Dr. Arden L. Bement Jr., the former director of the National Science Foundation, comes to NC State for the second installment of the Robert F. Davis Distinguished Lecture Series in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering. His lecture is entitled, “Global Policy Issues in a Shrinking World”. Media coverage is invited.
Who: Bement led NSF from 2004 to 2010, overseeing the $7 billion annual budget of an organization that is the funding source for about 20 percent of all federally supported basic research conducted by US colleges and universities. Bement currentlyserves as director of Purdue University’s Global Policy Research Institute and is the David A. Ross Distinguished Professor of Nuclear Engineering at the university.
When: 3 p.m. on Wednesday, April 13.
