Parish appointed Assistant Dean of Academic Affairs
Dr. David W. Parish has been named assistant dean of academic affairs for the College of Engineering at North Carolina State University.
Parish’s appointment, effective July 1, 2010, follows his two-year position as Interim assistant dean of undergraduate affairs.
During his interim position, Parish served as committee chair for the Engineering Course and Curriculum Committee as well as the University Courses and Curricula Committee. He also led the initiative to change the undergraduate curriculum to meet the new General Education Program requirements.
Parish has also taught classes in the Department of Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering and served as an instructor in the First-Year Engineering Program at NC State.
Parish previously served in the military, rising to the rank of captain in the U.S. Army and the rank of major in the U.S. Army Reserves. He also served as a personnel officer with the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers.
Parish received his B.S. and M.S. in civil engineering from New Mexico State University. He earned his Ph.D. in civil engineering from NC State in 2001.
