Marshall honored by ANS
Lisa M. Marshall, director of outreach in the Department of Nuclear Engineering at North Carolina State University, has received the Landis Public Communication and Education Award from the American Nuclear Society.
The award, which was last presented in 2005, recognizes a person for outstanding efforts, dedication and accomplishment in furthering public education and understanding of the peaceful applications of nuclear technology. The award was established in 2004 when John W. Landis made a $20,000 gift to ANS, a non-profit organization that promotes the awareness and understanding of the application of nuclear science and technology.
Marshall’s roles in the nuclear engineering department include recruiting and advising students, coordinating scholarships and fellowships, working in career development and alumni relations, teaching an introductory engineering course section, and advising NC State’s ANS student chapter. Her research interests include engineering studies and STEM education.
Marshall holds a bachelor’s degree from Carleton University in Canada and a graduate certificate in geographic information systems from NC State. She is currently completing her doctoral degree part-time at UNC-Chapel Hill.
